According to reports from Kaya FM, the Mamelodi Sundowns left-back became caught up in the incident after he and his companions stopped to help a man who claimed he had been robbed of around R34,000 in the Hillbrow area.
The complainant allegedly pointed out a vehicle believed to have been used by the suspects. Lunga and those with him reportedly followed the vehicle, but the occupants allegedly responded by opening fire on the footballer’s blue BMW.Geographic Reference
One of the bullets is said to have struck the vehicle. Fortunately, the Zimbabwe international was not hit, although reports say he was left shaken by the frightening ordeal.
Police in Gauteng have opened an attempted murder investigation into the shooting. No arrests had been made at the time of reporting, and investigations are continuing.
