Police Arrest Musician Greatman …

By A Correspondent| Popular Zimbabwean musician and socialite Tongai Gwaze, widely known as Greatman, was arrested on Saturday for allegedly operating an illegal shebeen in Kuwadzana.

Speaking after his arrest, Greatman expressed heartbreak over the incident, saying he had only ventured into the business as a way of earning a living amid Zimbabwe’s harsh economic conditions.

“Vakakomborerwa zvavo varipanodziya izvozvi inini ndasungwa ndiri pa Kuwadzana 2 police hongu ndirimunhu ndinotadzawo but pamwe pacho ndendichitsvaga kurarama ndinopema mutown zvamunoona mese ndawanawo kamari ndoti regai ndivhurewo kabhawa ndiwanewo yemuriwo but nhasi vasvikawo ndisipo panzvimbo pane kwandandambonopa munhu wheelchair Kuwadzana 3 umu vatora mutengesi wacho nedoro racho rese hapana kana arikumbondinzwisisawo apa ndanzwa nechando handichatozive kuti ndoitawosei chingandipewo raramo muno muZimbabwe moyo wangu watsemuka ???????? why me ???? ndoraramawo sei munyika medu Muno????”

On Sunday, Greatman issued another statement, admitting that he had broken the law by operating the bar without the required license and accepting full responsibility for his actions.Geographic Reference

“I, Greatman Foundation, operated a small bar without a license. That was very wrong, and I take full responsibility.”

He also acknowledged the work of the Zimbabwe Republic Police, saying law enforcement acted within their mandate.
“To ZRP Zimbabwe: You did your job, and you did it very well. No one is above the law. I was arrested, and the crates of beer were taken for the State.”

Greatman used the opportunity to warn other business operators against ignoring licensing requirements.

“My plea to you: If you have a small or big bar out there, please do not operate without the proper licenses. Let my situation be an example.”

The musician further revealed the financial hardship his family is facing following the arrest, saying he is struggling to provide even basic necessities.

“Right now I am home with my wife and children. I have not had even $1 to buy bread since yesterday. I am really hungry and struggling to find food.”

In a desperate appeal for support, Greatman asked for advertising opportunities to help him rebuild and support his family.
“If anyone needs me to advertise your business, please contact me on 0783607022. That little income will help me feed myself as I rebuild.”

He concluded with a message encouraging people to avoid unlawful activities:
“#SayNoToUnlawfulThings.”
