Bulawayo money changer surrenders 'Juju Monkey' from a Sangoma, which he used to become rich
By Staff Reporter
COWDRAY Park suburb in Bulawayo has once again turned into a real-life horror movie scene after a city money changer popularly known as usiphatheleni stunned residents by surrendering a monkey he claimed was tormenting him after years of using it as juju to make “dirty” money.
The shaken money changer (name supplied) allegedly confessed that the monkey, which he got from a sangoma, helped him mysteriously siphon money from fellow money changers operating in Bulawayo’s bustling city centre.
Using the alleged dark powers, the man reportedly amassed a fortune — splashing cash on several houses in Bulawayo’s eastern and western suburbs and building a flashy fleet of cars.
But his “money machine” reportedly turned into a nightmare.
The terrified usiphatheleni claimed the monkey had begun making chilling and bizarre demands — including allegedly demanding to sleep with him as a condition for boosting his wealth.
Unable to cope with the frightening demands, the man reportedly remembered the recent dramatic case of a businessman whose alleged owl juju was destroyed during a deliverance session by Madzibaba Emmanuel Mutumwa of Johanne Masowe Yechishanu.
Last week, swallowing his pride and fear, the osiphatheleni attended a deliverance ceremony in Cowdray Park where he made a shocking confession before stunned congregants.
Witnesses said the initially man tried to conceal the truth, claiming he was merely keeping the monkey as a pet.
“He first lied and said it was just his pet,” said a witness. “But as prayers and questioning intensified, the truth started coming out.”
Madzibaba Mutumwa reportedly instructed him to go back home and bring the monkey.
And to the disbelief of many — he returned with it. Witnesses said the bizarre scene became even more shocking because the monkey was dressed in a coat.
“It was unbelievable. We thought he was joking when he confessed,” said a witness.
“But Madzibaba Mutumwa told him to fetch the monkey if he was serious.
“To our shock, he actually came back with it — and the monkey was wearing a coat. People screamed and moved backwards in fear.”
Another witness said the visibly troubled man broke down as he narrated “his involvement in dark practices.”
“He confessed that he was using the monkey to mysteriously take money from fellow money changers in town.
“He said that is how he became rich, built houses and bought cars.
“But now the same thing was haunting him,” said another witness.
“The scary part was when he said the monkey now wanted to sleep with him. People were left speechless.”
Contacted for comment, Madzibaba Mutumwa confirmed the bizarre incident.
“I can confirm the man came seeking deliverance after the very thing he trusted for wealth turned against him,” said Madzibaba Mutumwa.
“People must understand that wealth gained through unorthodox means comes with painful consequences. There are no shortcuts in life.”
He urged people to abandon dubious methods of chasing riches.
“Work hard, pray and trust God. Do not seek wealth through dark powers because what looks like blessings can quickly turn into suffering,” he warned.
The shocking monkey drama comes barely a fortnight after Cowdray Park residents witnessed another jaw-dropping spiritual showdown involving Madzibaba Mutumwa and an allegedly aggressive owl linked to a local businessman.
Residents and congregants watched in disbelief as the prophet reportedly battled the bird during a tense deliverance session.
The drama erupted when a businessman sought help for his wife who allegedly suffered mysterious illnesses.
As prayers intensified, a huge owl allegedly appeared from nowhere, flying wildly around the shrine and diving towards worshippers like a fighter jet. “The owl was flying up and down as if it was angry.
“People were crying while others hid behind trees and vehicles. It was like something from a movie,” recalled a resident.
Madzibaba Mutumwa later claimed the owl belonged to the businessman and was allegedly being used for business prosperity.
With tales of mysterious owls, monkeys and dramatic confessions continuing to emerge, Cowdray Park remains gripped by bizarre stories that have left residents divided between fear, disbelief and endless debate.
