UK-Based Zimbabwean Bride Dies Soon After Wedding in Harare
By A Correspondent-A 29-year-old UK-based Zimbabwean woman, Sandra Shingai Sanele Bouyd, has died shortly after her wedding in Harare, in a tragic incident that has left family and friends in shock.
Bouyd succumbed to injuries sustained in a road traffic accident that reportedly occurred in the Glen Norah C suburb, in an area commonly known as “kumasimbi”. She was travelling in a hired inDrive vehicle when it was involved in a collision with a kombi.
Following the crash, Bouyd was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Her husband, Valentine Chasokela (31), who she had just married at the Harare Magistrates’ Court, was also injured in the accident. A third passenger, identified as her cousin Nicole Kambalazi, was also in the vehicle at the time.Investment opportunities Zimbabwe
According to reports, the inDrive driver, Benard Hukuimwe (38), allegedly attempted a U-turn in front of an oncoming kombi, leading to the fatal collision. Authorities are yet to provide an official account of the incident.
Bouyd’s body has been taken for a post-mortem examination, and she is set to be buried at Zororo Memorial Park. She is survived by her son, Mudiwa, from a previous relationship.
The tragedy has been compounded by reports that the couple’s court wedding had been conducted privately, without the knowledge or consent of some family members. Sources say Bouyd had travelled from the United Kingdom specifically to formalise her relationship with Chasokela, with whom she had maintained an on-and-off relationship.
While some accounts suggest the incident has exposed underlying family tensions, these claims remain unverified. Social media has also been awash with speculation, including allegations of ritual involvement. However, there is no evidence to support such claims, and others have attributed the accident to possible reckless driving and misfortune.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
