Suspension Follows Breach of Team Protocol
Hadebe was dropped from the Warriors’ squad for the Mukuru Four Nations Cup final against Zambia after violating camp regulations while the team was in Francistown.
The defender had impressed in the semi-final, delivering a commanding performance in Zimbabwe’s 3-0 victory over Botswana, but disciplinary action ruled him out of the final match played at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium.
Apology and Redemption
Following the incident, Hadebe issued an apology to the coach, his teammates and the nation, expressing regret over his conduct.
He was later pardoned and rejoined the team in celebrating their triumph over Chipolopolo, even sharing a moment with Nqobile Magwizi while receiving his gold medal.

Prior to the final, Hadebe had also asked captain Marvelous Nakamba to convey his apology to football authorities on his behalf.
Coach Praises Professionalism
According to The Herald, Coach Marinica said Hadebe’s reaction to the situation demonstrated maturity and professionalism.
“The issue is now behind us. As soon as he realised his mistake, he came forward and apologised to the team. He was ready to take responsibility,” said Marinica.
The coach added that Hadebe remained committed to the team even while serving his suspension, encouraging teammates to perform at their best in the final.
“That spirit is what defines him. He showed character and leadership — that is what makes him a real Warrior,” he said.
Lessons from Leadership
Marinica likened Hadebe’s response to that of Nakamba, who previously owned up to a costly mistake during the Africa Cup of Nations.
“That’s the mark of a true professional — taking responsibility without being forced. It’s the same maturity Hadebe has shown,” Marinica noted.
Defensive System Taking Shape
The Warriors coach also expressed satisfaction with his team’s defensive organisation, highlighting that Zimbabwe lifted the tournament trophy without conceding a goal.
He said the solid performances at the back signal progress as he continues to shape his tactical approach.
