Desperate Tshabangu Threatens President Chamisa With Lawsuit

Tinashe Sambiri– Desperate Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Secretary General Sengezo Tshabangu has threatened legal action against former party leader Nelson Chamisa, accusing him of attempting to form a new political party.

Speaking on Friday, Tshabangu claimed Chamisa had no authority to launch a fresh political formation, insisting that he remains the legitimate leader of the CCC despite having stepped away from active politics for nearly two years.

Tshabangu argued that Chamisa’s recent return to the political arena had caused confusion among party supporters, maintaining that any new political movement would be unlawful.

“We appreciate that Nelson Chamisa is back in active politics after leaving us orphaned for two years. He cannot form another party because he knows he is still our leader,” Tshabangu said.
He added that Chamisa’s choice to describe his return as a “movement” was intentional.

“That is why he chose to refer to his return as a movement. We will approach the courts to stop him from doing that,” Tshabangu said.

The remarks represent the latest escalation in the internal power struggle within the opposition party, which has been plagued by leadership disputes since Chamisa’s sudden exit from frontline politics in 2023.
