Upadate: Magaya’s Latest Arrest at Harare Magistrates Court
By Crime and Courts Reporter
Founder of Prophetic Healing and Deliverance Ministries, Prophet Walter Magaya, was arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the Harare Magistrates Court on Monday morning.
Magaya was taken into custody shortly after attending court proceedings related to separate rape and fraud cases. The arrest occurred within the court precincts moments after proceedings had concluded.
Earlier in the day, Magaya appeared in court alongside his wife, Tendai Magaya, where the couple was remanded to 27 March 2026 pending possible indictment in a fraud case involving 78 counts, which the State intends to transfer to the High Court.
Prosecutor Tendai Shonhai informed the court that the State expects to be ready for trial at the beginning of the second quarter of 2026, a position that was consented to by defence counsel Admire Rubaya.
In the separate rape matter before Magistrate Francis Mapfumo, the State requested a postponement, citing logistical challenges in securing the travel of key witnesses based in Ireland.
Magaya, one of Zimbabwe’s most prominent religious figures, has consistently denied all allegations against him. At the time of publication, full details surrounding the latest arrest were still emerging.
