The Centre for Development Studies (CDS) College, one of the country’s leading private institutions, hosted a high-level academic workshop over the weekend at its Bulawayo branch. The workshop, which ran from 9:00am to 1:00pm, was attended by officials from the Higher Education Examinations Council (HEXCO) as well as representatives from the IAC examination board.

The engagement brought together college management, lecturers, and external examination bodies to discuss curriculum alignment, assessment standards, and quality assurance in skills-based education.

Presentations delivered by HEXCO and IAC officials focused on examination requirements, compliance frameworks, and the importance of maintaining industry-relevant training that meets national and international standards.

Speaking during the workshop, facilitators highlighted the growing importance of technical and vocational education in equipping students with practical, life-changing skills that respond to current socio-economic demands.

The session also provided an opportunity for CDS College staff to engage directly with examination authorities, strengthening collaboration and ensuring that programmes remain responsive and accredited.

CDS College continues to register steady growth and has, to date, produced thousands of graduates through its hybrid, tailor-made courses designed to accommodate a wide range of learners.

The institution offers flexible learning pathways that cater for students seeking to pursue skills across diverse fields, including healthcare, environmental studies, agriculture, and other key academic and professional spheres.

Through its innovative approach to education, the college has positioned itself as a hub for inclusive, skills-oriented training that empowers students from different backgrounds to improve their livelihoods and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Centre for Development Studies College currently operates branches in Gweru, Bulawayo, Gwanda, Hwange, and Harare. Plans are underway to open additional branches as the institution expands to meet the growing demand for quality, accessible education across the country.
