Zimbabwean hip-hop artist Holy Ten arrested over alleged rape of 14-year-old girl

Prominent Zimbabwean hip-hop artist Holy Ten has been arrested after being accused of raping a 14-year-old girl, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has confirmed.

The rapper, whose real name is Mukudzei Chitsama, is currently being held by police while detectives continue investigating the allegations.

National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest on Tuesday but said authorities were not yet in a position to disclose further details about the case.

“Police have arrested a local musician on rape allegations,” Commissioner Nyathi said, adding that additional information will be made public as investigations progress.

The development marks a dramatic turn for the award-winning artist, who only recently returned to public life after undergoing rehabilitation in South Africa.

Since completing his rehabilitation programme, Holy Ten had sought to reshape his public image, frequently speaking about the importance of personal responsibility, discipline and overcoming destructive behaviours. He had also positioned himself as an advocate for youth rehabilitation, using his platform to encourage young people to make positive life choices.

His arrest has now placed him at the centre of a serious criminal investigation.

Police have not released further details about the alleged offence, and no information has yet been provided regarding court proceedings or any formal charges beyond the reported rape allegation.


The Zimbabwe Republic Police has said it will issue additional updates as investigations continue.
