How much South Africa has earned after reaching the FIFA World Cup Round of 32
Bafana Bafana's 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification could earn SAFA more than R200 million, with clubs and players also set to benefit financially.
Bafana Bafana have already made history at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Now, they have also secured a massive financial reward.
South Africa reached the Round of 32 after finishing second in Group A behind Mexico. They sealed qualification with a hard-fought 1-0 win over South Korea.
That victory guaranteed a place in the knockout rounds. It also secured at least US$11 million (about R195 million) in FIFA prize money.
The payout goes to teams finishing between 17th and 32nd at the tournament.
Tournament Run Delivers Huge Financial Reward
FIFA will also pay South Africa a participation and preparation grant. That amount is estimated at US$1.5 million.
As a result, Bafana Bafana have already earned about US$12.5 million. That equals roughly R222 million.
Meanwhile, the rewards could grow if Hugo Broos’ team continues its dream campaign.
Canada Clash Offers Bigger Prize
South Africa faces Canada in the Round of 32 on June 28. Another victory would extend their remarkable World Cup journey.
A win over Canada would send Bafana Bafana into the Round of 16. It would also increase their prize money to US$15 million.
The expanded 48-team FIFA World Cup has already produced unforgettable moments. However, South Africa now has another chance to make even more history.
