Maitengwe Trending Stories with Yours Truly: The Grave is Empty, Jesus is alive

By Yours Truly
Unto us a Son is born, unto us a Son is given. The message of Easter echoes once more across the world: Jesus lives, and the tomb stands empty. To all comrades, friends, and readers, may this season bring renewal, reflection, and quiet strength. Happy Easter holidays.
Yet, even in a season of hope, sorrow finds its way into our hearts.
On a tragic note, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed the identities of six lives lost in a devastating road accident along the Harare–Masvingo Highway on Thursday morning. The collision, which occurred around 9:50 a.m. at the 246-kilometre peg near Masvingo, involved a Toyota Corolla and a Mercedes-Benz truck.
The victims, all from Tynwald North in Harare, were identified as:
Lilian Maranda-Mujuru (40), Nokutenda Mujuru (15), Makanaka Mujuru (13), Ronald Junior Mujuru (11), Rufaro Shalom Mujuru (7), and little Kayden Mujuru (3).
An entire family, wiped away in a single moment.
May the Almighty show mercy, and may their souls find eternal rest.
In the stillness of the night, Your Truly was visited by a dream, one that felt less like imagination and more like revelation. In it, the President stood before what seemed to be both a Politburo gathering and a rally at the City Sports Centre. He declared that he would be stepping down in 2028.
What struck me most was not just the announcement, but the reaction. I turned to General Chiwenga, who appeared to have missed the gravity of the moment. Then, as if aware of the tension, the President looked directly toward us and repeated himself, firmly stating that he could not leave the nation under Chiwenga’s leadership.
The atmosphere shifted instantly. Some ululated in approval, others stood frozen in disbelief. Chaos followed. Closed-door meetings followed with the General confronting him amid confusion..
I asked a soldier about the bill CAB3 and he said: “It’s over… where are the generals?”
And just like that, I woke up.
Perhaps a dream. Perhaps something more.
Turning to the realities on the ground, one cannot ignore the growing economic contradictions. Fuel in Zimbabwe is largely and exclusively sold in US dollars. Passports too demand the same currency, upfront, with little flexibility. These essential services seem increasingly detached from the everyday citizen.
At a time when other nations are cushioning their populations against rising fuel costs, Zimbabwe appears to be moving in the opposite direction. Taxes are reduced, yet prices rise. The outcome? Maximum profit for a system many believe is controlled by a single, powerful hand with interests spanning fuel and passport services alike. And when questions arise, the answer often circles back to one phrase: CAB3, because the same forces sustain it.
Across the border in South Africa, tensions flared in East London after reports that a Nigerian Igbo man had symbolically declared himself a king. The move sparked outrage, protests, and accusations of provocation. The situation has since been contained, with the Nigerian embassy issuing an apology and describing the incident as a cultural expression rather than a political claim. Still, the episode has left lingering questions about identity, respect, and boundaries.
Back on the global stage, the situation involving Iran continues to intensify. Reports of two fighter jets being downed have added pressure to an already volatile conflict. It marks a significant moment, particularly in light of earlier claims that Iran’s air force was effectively non-existent. Reality, it seems, has a way of challenging narratives.
And with that, we draw the curtain for now.
As the faithful gather to partake in Holy Communion and celebrate the resurrection of Christ, may we carry both awareness and hope in equal measure. The world remains complex, often turbulent, but moments like Easter remind us of renewal, truth, and the enduring power of faith.
His grave is EMPTY
Until next time.
The Elder is out.
