The Centre for Development Studies (CDS) has been honoured with a prestigious Golden Award in the “Most Promising Academic Entity” category at the recently held Mega Fest Business Awards in Harare, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s rapid growth and national recognition.
The award ceremony, which brought together leading institutions, innovators, and stakeholders from across Zimbabwe, celebrated excellence and emerging impact across various sectors.
CDS stood out among competitors for its commitment to accessible, flexible, and career-oriented education.
Receiving the award, Mr Nhlalo Bhebhe a representative from CDS expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a testament to the institution’s mission of transforming lives through education.
“This award reflects the dedication of our staff, students, and partners who believe in making quality education accessible to all,” said Mr Bhebhe.
The Centre for Development Studies has, in recent years, expanded its footprint with multiple branches across the country, positioning itself as a growing force in Zimbabwe’s tertiary education sector. The college is particularly known for offering affordable short courses designed to meet the evolving demands of the job market.
Through its hybrid learning model, which blends online and in-person instruction, CDS has managed to reach a diverse student population, including working professionals and those in remote areas.
This flexible approach has been widely praised for breaking down traditional barriers to education.
Education analysts note that CDS’s recognition at the Mega Fest Awards signals a shift toward institutions that prioritise inclusivity, innovation, and practical skills development.
