Ex-Prison Officer Jailed 50 Years for Killing Wife and Pregnant Daughter in Kadoma

A former prison officer has been sentenced to an effective 50 years in jail for murdering his wife and his eight-month pregnant daughter following a domestic violence dispute in Kadoma.

Albert Namurokosi was sentenced to two consecutive 25-year prison terms by Chinhoyi High Court judge Justice Manyangadze after being convicted of the murders of his 45-year-old wife, Cynthia Namukorosi, and their 23-year-old daughter, Takudzwa Namukorosi.

The court heard that the tragedy followed years of marital problems, with tensions escalating shortly before the killings.

According to the State, represented by Review Nikisi, Cynthia reported Albert for domestic violence on May 2. He was subsequently arrested and spent the night in custody at Ingezi Police Base in Kadoma.

Following his arrest, Cynthia left the family home and went to stay with Takudzwa, who lived with her young family at House No. 929 in Victory Park.

The court heard that Albert was angered by his wife's decision to report him.

After his release from custody, Albert went to his daughter's home on May 3.

At around 1.30pm, he allegedly broke into the property and attacked Takudzwa with a knife.

The heavily pregnant woman managed to escape through the kitchen door, but Albert followed her outside and stabbed her again in the shoulder.

A neighbour, Tracy Dangaiso, reportedly tried to intervene but was warned by Albert not to interfere.

Cynthia then confronted her husband over the attack on their daughter.

The court heard that Albert stabbed Cynthia once in the neck, killing her at the scene.

Takudzwa also succumbed to her injuries, with her body later discovered behind the house.

Albert fled the scene but later surrendered himself to the police and was arrested.

A post-mortem examination conducted on May 8 established that Takudzwa died from haemothorax, a lacerated lung and a stab wound to the back.

The court was also told that she was eight months pregnant when she was killed.

During the proceedings, Albert described his marriage as troubled for about five years.

He attributed the marital problems to several issues, including fathering a child outside the marriage and alleged infidelity by his late wife.

He nevertheless acknowledged that Cynthia's domestic violence report had resulted in his arrest and overnight detention on May 2.

The following day, he attacked his wife and daughter, resulting in their deaths.

Justice Manyangadze subsequently imposed two 25-year sentences, bringing the effective prison term to 50 years.
